Rock and Roll Hall of Fame All Stars

For a rock music lover like me, this one is just plain fun. This is a performance of Aerosmith's "Train Kept a Rolling All Night Long" by an army of some of the most influential rock musicians of all time at Saturday night's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The lineup is Metallica + long lost former bass player Jason Newsted, Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Ron Wood (Rolling Stones), Jeff Beck (Yardbirds), and Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers). For anyone who is keeping score, that's 1 drummer, 3 bassists, 6 guitarists and a partridge in a pear tree.

Quick Post

I just finished watching the ACC Tournament semi-final games. Florida State beat UNC and Duke beat Maryland. This, of course sets up a Duke vs. Florida State championship game. Offhand, I cannot think of a more dreadful game. I will not be watching tomorrow.

However, that's not why I am posting. Yesterday two of my friends and I stumbled across a listing of "the most anti-essential Christian books." It's funny enough that I still laugh out loud when I read it. Anyways, go here and check it out.

Please note: At least a basic familiarity of the authors mentioned will be required for this list to make any sense for you. Otherwise you'll probably just be confused.

Vadrum Meets Super Mario Bros 3 (Drum Video)

Like Mario? Like Drums? This guy does. He's put together a nice little video where he's playing drums along to the music of Super Mario Bros. 3. He also has videos for Mario's 1 and 2, but this is my favorite. So watch and prepare to be amazed by some of the best drumming I've ever seen (I really mean that).

Meet the new addition to the family

After years of loyal PC use, I finally have made the switch to Mac. So far I love it. You should have seen how excited I was when I was opening the box. As I was telling one of my friends, I hope I'm at least that excited when my children are born (assuming I am ever blessed with that experience in my  life).

Here's a screen shot of my desktop. Why? Because I am a proud Mac owner who wants to show it off and because it's so easy to save screenshots on your Mac... only three measly buttons. And yes, it is a shot of me typing this very blog entry.

Paypal hijacked

I got home from church last night to find that someone had used my Paypal account to make several purchases from some online gaming site. They took the money right out of my checking account. I immediately reported the charges as being unauthorized to Paypal so that they could investigate. Just a few minutes ago, I received emails stating that the charges had been reversed and that the money would be refunded.

I have no idea how my account was hijacked. I guess someone was able to crack my password (which I have now changed and made harder to crack). Despite the overall initial shock of the whole situation, I have to give credit to Paypal for making it pretty easy to report the situation and then for the fact that they resolved it in less than twenty-four hours (they said it could take up to ten days).

To further prevent the possibility of this happening again, I have also set up my cell phone as a security key. From now on, when I log in to Paypal, they will send my phone a text message with a six digit number in it. I will have to enter that number in order to log in. So anyone that does not have my cell phone will not be able to log in. I didn't even know this was an option until yesterday. Anyways, I think it's a great idea for extra security on Paypal, which is one of the most dangerous things someone could take control of since it could give someone access to your bank account(s) and credit card(s). I would highly recommend that any of you out there with a Paypal account, which is probably most of you, sign up for this feature. It's free of charge and worth the extra few seconds it takes to receive a text and enter the number. (Of course if you don't have a text plan on your phone or you often use Paypal in areas that doesn't have good cell reception, then you probably should not use this feature)

I do consider it a blessing that the amount of money charged was relatively small ($60). The person who did this could have potentially cleaned out all of my money and maxed my credit cards, which could have been devastating, and probably much more difficult to resolve. So praise God that not much money was taken, I will get it back, and now my Paypal account is even more secure so it will be unlikely that someone can do this again.
